I've returned to the world of book blogging and hope to have new entries for you at least twice a week. Yes, I'd love to actually show up here with daily blogs, but for now I'm working at being realistic.
Some things to chat about:
- Have you seen the new front page interview? It's with Alan Alda. His latest book, Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself, is a most satisfying read. He takes a tone of encouragement and optimism, a voice that is sorely needed. In fact, overall, I was impressed with his good sense and his overall life philosophy. We could use more people like Alan Alda in this world--well, more people like him who have a public microphone and a voice that people will listen to.
- The next interview on deck is with Jane May. She's recently published her second mainstream fiction book and it was a blast to read. I laughed through the whole novel. However, it was more than just humorous fiction. She's got a literary twist in there that is sure to delight lovers of folklore and fairy tale literature.
- Nicholas Spark's latest book is out: The Choice. It's one of those books that I think will drive critics crazy while being the delight of book clubs. In order to have a meaty, in-depth discussion of the book's themes, you'd have to give away a spoiler that is part of what makes the book work so well. I still haven't figured out how I'm going to review it. However, book clubs will love it because once you've read it, there is some great, meaty stuff to delve into.
